Have never really liked the "straight-laced high schoolers go WILD" trope, but I do sincerely wish this movie and everyone involved the best. I might see it, but damn there are like a buttload of interesting movies coming out soon and I'll have to budget accordingly.

I think LCJ will have to wait until he's in high school for this film to really land for him. Honestly, I'm excited for the little guy.

I did laugh a lot at least and thought all the actors were great. but it just felt a little tone deaf. Rolled my eyes at the principal driving a lyft being played for a laugh.

I wasn't sure if Beanie Feldstein's character was supposed to come off as badly as she did during the first act, particularly with regards to her massive elitism towards her classmates and 'what college they will probably be attending (if any)' or whatever. As a highschool flick the film didn't have any time whatsoever for anyone else other than the top 1% academically. Other than the film was great and had way more good jokes than the trailer suggested

this was pretty good. a little disjointed early on and its a little distracting in parts with trying to counter the trope of poorly shot comedy films but gains its footing.

liz warren pls come up with a plan to prevent white comedy directors from doing rap montages as a signifier for how hard the white characters are.

Booksmart was not good. Extremely derivative, jokes that fell flat/were stale, look and direction were blah, etc. In comparison to PEN15 this was complete bunk.

Glad we can establish women are only allowed to tell one type of coming of age story. And any female coming of age story must be compared to another female coming of age story.
